Your customer’s online reviews are bland and too general

After much pleading your customer finally does it. They have logged on to Facebook and left you a 5 star review. After you review it you can tell it was left as an afterthought. They clicked the 5 stars and left the most general notion that satisfying business was done. “Wow, this business was great. Highly satisfied!” Ok, great, small-business owners appreciate that and the fact they left the 5 star rating is half the battle, but you wish they would have taken time to explain why it went so well. They should have told the world how you went out of your way, how you took time to listen to their concern. They should have even described the look on their face and the tear that dripped from their eye as you, the business owner, sold their problem and created peace in their world for a moment.


Instead, you got the ol’ “highly satisfied” review.

Stop begging them to leave a review and start doing the heavy lifting.

If you want your customer’s review to really shine, you need to do that work for them. The number one reason people don’t leave reviews for businesses is because they simply don’t care to take the time to do it. It seems pretty easy but in their busy world they aren’t sitting around trying to think of creative ways to praise your company.

Here’s a better solution:

Whenever I am looking to boost my rating online, I sit down and type up 3-5 dream reviews. These are reviews that make me, as the business owner, cry. I then send the following email:


I appreciate you letting me stop by your office to show your team your new website Fiddler Online just built. It was great to see the appreciation on the faces of your team. 

I was curious if you would take a quick moment to write a review on my Facebook page so that others can know how positive your experience was. I realize you are busy and may not have time to sit down and type a full review. To save you time, I have written out 3 reviews below that I think reflect your experience with my business. If you don’t have time to write the review yourself, would you mind copying and pasting one of the following reviews on our Facebook page?

Feel free to alter or adjust any of the reviews to describe your experience more accurately.

Option 1: I love my website. Being able to work with the Fiddler Online team was a dream. They worked so fast, and got me a website that shows I’m the leader in my industry. Now I won’t be ashamed to tell my potential clients to check out my website.

Option 2: My website is up and I love it! I have dealt with so many disappointing web developers in the past. They disappear and I can never get a hold of them. It’s refreshing to work with Fiddler Online because they answer my call every time.
